Taxes Tab Screen

Use this screen to select the taxes and rates that are applied in the workfile. The additional field descriptions in the table appear if the profile has been set up for tax tier.

Description of fields on the screen

Field Label	Description
Rate Table	The rate table name is displayed in this field. This field cannot be edited.
Estimate	This droplist lists the estimates in the workfile currently selected. This list is displayed only if you enter the Rates tab through a workfile. Select the estimate you want to work with.
Taxes pane	Taxes that can be applied to a workfile appear in this pane. Changing the tax rates here will not have any affect on estimates created prior to the change.
Tax Type	There are four predefined tax types. Values include Sales, Total Loss, Municipal, and County.Other 1 and Other 2 are user defined.
Apply Tax	Select each type of tax to be applied.
Rate%	This is viewable if the Use Tiered Tax option is deselected. Enter the tax rate percentage value for each tax type.
Use Tiered Tax	This field indicates whether or not tiered tax is applied. You cannot edit this field.
Tax Tier pane	This pane is viewable when the Use Tiered Tax option has been enabled in the profile rate table.
Add Tax Tier	Select this button to open the Add Tax Tier dialog box. This button is located on the toolbar.
Edit Tax Tier	Select the tax tier and then select this button to open the Edit Tax Tier dialog box. This button is located on the toolbar.
Delete Tax Tier	Select the tax tier and then select this button to open the Delete Tax Tier dialog box. Select Yes to confirm the tax tier delete, or No to close the dialog box.This button is located on the toolbar.
Bottom $	This lists the bottom (floor) of the dollar range to which the tax Rate and flat Surcharge will apply. Each tier must have a different bottom figure. The rates and surcharges apply to costs that fall between the bottoms. The bottom of the first tier will always be 0.00. You can change the other figures, including Rate and Surcharge, as long as you have not selected a locked estimate.
Rate %	Enter the tax percentage rate in this field.
Surcharge $	This is a flat dollar amount used in the tax tier.
OK	This saves the changes and closes the dialog box.
Cancel	This closes the dialog box without saving any changes.

Rate Table

Use Tiered Tax

This pane is viewable when the Use Tiered Tax option has been enabled in the profile rate table.

Add Tax Tier

Select this button to open the Add Tax Tier dialog box. This button is located on the toolbar.

Edit Tax Tier

Select the tax tier and then select this button to open the Edit Tax Tier dialog box. This button is located on the toolbar.

Delete Tax Tier

Select the tax tier and then select this button to open the Delete Tax Tier dialog box. Select Yes to confirm the tax tier delete, or No to close the dialog box.This button is located on the toolbar.
